Bolts LB Ingram tears ligament in knee

San Diego Chargers outside linebacker Melvin Ingram has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Tuesday morning during organized team activity practice.

If the ligament is completely torn and surgery is needed, it could sideline Ingram for the complete 2013-14 season.

Melvin Ingram - DraftedMelvin Ingram was the Chargers first-round pick (18th overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft.  Ingram attended the University of South Carolina where as a junior in 2010, he led the team with nine sacks.  In 2011, Ingram registered 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and two interceptions. He also scored three touchdowns.

In his rookie season in the NFL, Ingram played in 16 games, started just one game and ended the season with one sack, 16 tackles and a forced fumble.
