NBC selects Carrie Underwood for Sunday Night Football Theme

Faith Hill

Faith Hill had a great run, but it will now be Carrie Underwood swinging her hips on Sunday nights.

NBC announced Tuesday that country music star Carrie Underwood will replace Faith Hill as the singer in the weekly introductory theme song for ‘Sunday Night Football’. Hill announced several weeks ago that she would not return to SNF.

Don’t panic everyone. Underwood plans to adapt the intro to her style, with the lyrics remaining the same. Also, NFL stars will again appear in the video sequence.

“For me, it just always seemed like something that would be fun to do,” Underwood said during a conference call. “To watch Faith do it week after week, to see that hype for the game, it’s something that’s so cool.”

The first ‘Sunday Night Football’ game this season is September 8th in a game that features the New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys, a match-up that earned 21.8 million viewers last year, so many will be watching as Carrie Underwood debuts the new theme.
