The Minnesota Vikings have decided to switch Joe Webb back to wide receiver. Webb was the primary backup for Christian Ponder last season. The arrival of Matt Cassel has allowed the Vikings to move Joe Webb back to his original position. This is a position of need for the Vikings as they have Greg Jennings, Jerome Simpson, Jarius Wright, Greg Childs (injured last off season) and Stephen Burton at wide receiver.
“(Webb) is such a talented athlete that we want to make sure that we’re doing the right thing by him and our team, as well,” coach Leslie Frazier in an interview with The Star Tribune.
Last season Joe Webb did not take a snap at quarterback until the Minnesota Vikings played the Green Bay Packers in the Wildcard. Joe Webb only threw for one touchdown and threw for 180 yards in the loss to the Packers. This was not a good showing by Joe Webb and probably is what led the Vikings so signing Matt Cassel. We will have to wait and see if this plan actually turns out to work in the favor of the Minnesota Vikings.
