The quarterback news just keeps coming today. The Arizona Cardinals announced via their official website QB John Skelton will be released from the team. Because of this, one can assume the Carson Palmer to Arizona trade rumors must be true after all. If the Cardinals really do intend to trade for the veteran quarterback, there’s no need to keep a struggling John Skelton. Let’s also keep in mind the Cardinals signed QB Drew Stanton at the beginning of free agency. The team also brought back veteran QB Brian Hoyer.
To say it nicely, John Skelton was terrible in 2012. One games comes to mind for me when I think of his terrible season and it was the Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He displayed one of the worst performances in NFL history, throwing no touchdowns to 4 interceptions on 22 passing attempts for a total of 74 yards. Honestly, almost anyone could walk on to the field and perform better than Skelton did that game. It was an absolute garbage performance.
One thing he has going for him is that he won the starting job in training camp before going down due to injury. Still, I will be shocked if any team takes a chance on Skelton is 2013 after the way he played in 2012.
