Despite normally being conservative in free agency, the Titans decided to go about free agency differently in 2013. They did so by adding two big free agents within an hour of the free agency period, agreeing to deals with OG Andy Levitre and TE Delanie Walker, two moves that will tremendously help the Titans offense, particularly in the running game.
Going into the free agency, Andy Levitre was revered as the best offensive guard to good reason. He’s a big reason why the Buffalo Bills’ offensive line was so successful in the passing and running game. He’s a better pass blocker than run blocker, but he is still very good in at run blocking.
As for Delanie Walker, he’s a guy that you can rely on for consistent blocking and a great catch here or there. Walker’s biggest issue has been his hands. Walker tends to drop a lot of balls. According to Pro Football Focus, Walker dropped a nine passes in 2012, and considering he only caught 21 passes, that’s not very good.
Nevertheless, I believe that these signings have helped the Titans get closer to getting back to AFC South contention.
