According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, longtime New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw has been released due to salary cap issues. The team also released defensive lineman Chris Canty. Yesterday, the Giants released LB Michael Boley.
This move doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Ahmad Bradshaw saw less carries in the 2012 season as RBs David Wilson and Andre Brown received more carries as the season loomed. Not only has Bradshaw seen last carries, he underwent a foot surgery in January. The surgery is expected to keep him out for a while, but he is expected to be ready for offseason workouts.
The New York Giants are creating more cap room, which could be a sign of their willingness to sign WRs Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks to long term deals. This could be just the beginning of an interesting offseason for the New York Giants.
