Adrian Peterson Wins MVP; Peyton Manning Wins Comeback Player

Adrian Peterson

After putting up one of the great seasons in NFL history, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has won the Associated Press 2012 MVP award. Adrian Peterson ran for an astonishing 2,097 yards, coming nine yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season record for rushing yards. Peterson was a huge part of the Minnesota Vikings’ playoff run in 2012.

MVP candidate Peyton Manning will walk away with the Comeback Player of the Year instead of the MVP. Peyton Manning missed the entire 2011 season with a series of neck injuries. This would less to him being released by the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason. After flirting with multiple teams, Manning decided to go to the Denver Broncos and attempt to be Tue great player he one was. There’s no doubt that Manning has been pretty successful so far. He led the NFL in Total QBR and came up just short of winning MVP.

The MVP race may be over, but the debate may not be anywhere close to being over. Peyton Manning supporters will argue that Manning deserved to win MVP over Peterson, but I don’t believe that to be the case. I believe that Adrian Peterson was more valuable to his team than Peyton Manning was to his team. What do you think?
