The Jacksonville Jaguars have finally placed star RB Maurice Jones-Drew on injured reserve today after missing almost 10 weeks of action. Jones-Drew underwent surgery today and is projected to be out until May of 2013. The odd thing is why the Jaguars decided not to do the surgery back in October when the injury was suffered. It seems at the time they believed he would be able to come back, but his return was going to be very late in the season.
“We had hoped it would — as others have — heal without surgery, and it didn’t. If it’s May, we’re not going to miss a lot. I don’t think it’s significant that we’re doing it now. We all felt like he had a chance to play all the way up until this week, and really we were hoping he could.”
MJD had 414 yards and one touchdown before the injury.
