Dallas Cowboys NT Josh Brent is being charged with intoxication manslaughter of his fellow teammate LB Jerry Brown. Brent was arrested Saturday morning in Irving, Texas in what is believed to be a one-vehicle accident. According to police, Brent’s car was traveling at a high rate of speed on a State Highway 114 service road before he hit the outside curb. The car flipped at least one time before coming to a rest in the middle of the service road. When police arrived, Brent was responsive and spoke to police officers. Brown was unresponsive and taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Brent and Brown were teammates at Illinois.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones released this statement, “We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown. At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry’s family and all of those who knew him and loved him.”
The Cowboys plane is still en route to Cincinnati for their road game against the Bengals.
