Matt Giordano came to the Raiders last season to fill the safety position when starter Hiram Eugene suffered a serious hip injury during preseason. The eight year veteran out of the University of California played 15 games with 9 starts for Oakland and led the team with 5 INTs that he returned for 130 yards; he also had 66 tackles and the first sack of his career.
During this offseason Eugene was released because he failed to pass the physical and Giordano signed a free agent contract Monday night. He started his professional career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2005 and played four seasons there; in 2009 he played for the Green BAy Packers and the New Orleans Saints in 2010.
