Denver Broncos release CB Andre Goodman

When the Broncos signed free agent cornerback Tracey Porter in March, this act was expected and it happened last Friday; veteran CB Andre Goodman was released.  Goodman signed a 5 year contract with the Broncos ($25 million that includes over $10 million guaranteed) in 2009.  At 33 years old and with the addition of Porter, Goodman became an overpaid backup.

In Goodman’s three seasons with the Broncos, he played in 40 regular season games  he accumulated 109 tackles, 7 interceptions, 35 pass break-ups, 3 fumble recoveries and a sack; he also had two starts and 5 solo tackles in the playoffs last season.  He started in ALL 16 games in 2009 and 2011, he missed half of the 2010 season due to injury.

Goodman was drafted in the third round by the Detroit Lions in 2002 and played three seasons with them, he also played with the Miami Dolphins (2006-2008).  He has 95 career starts and 19 interceptions.
