Dontari Poe came into this off-season as a mid-draft prospect, but after his performance at the combine he shot up everyone’s draft boards. He had 44 reps with the 225 pound bench press, putting his size to good use, but what had everyone talking was how Poe ran his 40 yard dash. At 346 pounds, he ran his 40 in 4.98 seconds. That is just incredible. Many tight ends and linebackers look to hit that mark but at 100 pounds lighter. He also displayed quick footwork with the 3 cone drill, and other drills he took part in.
Poe came out of the combine with much hype and many gave him a first round grade. But questions surround his work ethic on the field as there were times that Poe did not explode off the line. Many players put up impressive combine numbers but fail to perform when drafted, even as high as the first round. As of right now, BTK 4.0 Mock Draft has Poe being drafted 9th overall to the Carolina Panthers. So it raises the question, is Dontari Poe a stud or dud?
