Two Lions Arrested and Charged

The Lions have had quite a bit of attention in the last couple of days. Both Mikel Leshoure and Nick Fairley have been arrested on marijuana charges. Nick Fairley was the first round pick in the 2011 draft, and Mikel Leshoure was the third round pick in the 2011 draft.  These young players came out of college last year with much upside and optimism as future stars in this league. Leshoure will turn himself in tomorrow, and Fairley was released after he posted $1,000 bond.  It’s not something you want to hear as a GM or head coach of a football team, and the Lions released this statement after they learned of Fairley’s arrest:

“We hold all of our players to a high standard of behavior and the recent charges against Nick and Mikel Leshoure are not consistent with those standards,” the team said in a statement Tuesday. “We are extremely disappointed. We will continue to gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
