Saints Get Disciplined

The Saints were handed down severe penalties for the bounty program that they ran on the defensive side of the ball. The program is speculated to have run from the 2009 season through the 2011 season. The penalties that the Saints received were: Sean Peyton (Head Coach) suspended for 1 year, Gregg Williams (former Defensive Coordinator) suspended indefinitely, Mickey Loomis (GM) suspended for first 8 games of season, Joe Vitt (assistant coach) suspended 6 games and fined $100,000, the Saints were fined $500,000 and lost their 2012 2nd round pick, and 2013 2nd round pick. Some say Sean Payton, the head coach, being suspended for 1 year is a bit harsh. But the bottom line is, these fines are heavy, and Roger Goodell wanted to send a message that this act will not be tolerated.
